I'm Matthew — software engineer by day, 3D printing obsessive by night.

Building things — printers, computers, software, motorcycles — is what I love. I got my first 3D printer in 2022 (an AnkerMake M5) and was instantly hooked by the possibilities it unlocked. Now I have a concerningly large fleet of heavily modded machines.

I design practical stuff — workshop solutions, organizers, planters, printer mods, and sometimes tools for people who need them most — with a modern aesthetic. My designs are on Printables, Thangs, and GitHub. I'm active in the 3D printing Discord community, mostly helping people troubleshoot and talking shop.

Why "BakedBean"? My partner Katie and I came across an Instagram video of a chinchilla getting told he's "built like a baked bean." If you're extremely online, you've probably heard the soundbite. We've been quoting it at each other ever since, and when we needed a shop name, it was the obvious choice. It helps that we're in Chicago, home of The Bean. Now everything we make is built BY BakedBean.
